    Joomla today announces that its core files have been downloaded more than 30 million times from Joomla.org. Joomla now averages around 1 million downloads every month. The Joomla community attributes the continued growth in the number of individuals, companies and organizations using the CMS to an aggressive development road map that included the release of Joomla 1.7 in July 2011.     While checking my site logs, as should be standard practice for everyone, I discovered an unintentional honeytrap. Q. What is the point of trying to hack an rss feed and is it possible? To show how bad some of these hack attempts are a quick view over the logs of your site  should highlight some of the basic hacking attempts on vulnerable extensions. This site has a feed to content using the great feedgator tool that will take the VEL list and insert it into a content item/article/post.       Several Joomla User Groups (JUG) have reports of around a hundred people attending, joomladays might have 3-400 people attend. So why in some cases do JUGs only have 4 or 5 attend their meetings and 100 at a national event? How do you make a JUG successful, is it food? beer? or dancing penguins and a late night disco? Several JUGs have on an average membership of 40 people, but few ever turn up. Here is an example of trying to get one JUG off the ground. (this is not a JUG I have attended!)

    I want to start with the lyrics of a song but this month, I can't. I just don't have it in me this morning, or the time. If only I had something, like a plugin that I could install, that speeded everything up but kept me sane. Something a little like RokBooster, a new plugin for Joomla from RocketTheme that keeps everything working but just makes it faster. Best of all, it is free!

    They say the best things come in threes and while I always used to think they were saying trees and looked up, when I saw this theme, I smiled. You see, shopping themes are a thing of mine and this is one of the best, if not the best, I've seen in a while. This particular one from Shape 5 has had quite a lot of work done to Virtuemart and RedShop and if one of those is your extension of choice, you will be over the moon with this and even if you are new to shopping cart extensions, this could make you want to give it a try, or at the very least bookmark for when that need arises.

    As if you wanted another theme to look at all of a sudden, here is one. And this one is from RocketTheme and the first time I saw it, I thought of a car. Don't ask me why, but I have just woken up after a few beers last night, but I think it was because of the badge in the middle. I'm also seeing stuff right now and one of those things I'm seeing is RokSprocket and I really do like it. It just works with any type of content you have and it means you can get rid of quite a few others. To say I'm falling in love with RokSprocket would be a lie, but I'm thinking about a cheeky bit on the side.

    Recently I have taken on some new work with an awesome little graphic design/branding house. They are great people and I'm really looking forward to working with them. Previously they used their own in house employee for web work. The employee was a good person but probably lacked some real web skills and was at times out of his depth in regards to building sites with Joomla, which he used exclusively for all sites. I was amazed to see that all the previous work done by this cool and funky design house were all completed using commercial templates and hence starts my first little "rant".
